Technical information

Dynaflow is an early automatic transmission with designs that place high demands on the correct material selection, thickness and fit of gaskets and seals. Older designs are often more sensitive to incorrect tolerances, making correctly designed gaskets and seals particularly important during renovation.

Incorrect or aged gaskets and seals can lead to oil leaks, poor performance and unnecessary wear.

Torque Ball – important information when renovating

Dynaflow boxes are equipped with a so-called Torque Ball in the rear of the transmission. When working with gaskets and seals in this area, correct assembly and adjustment are essential.

Torque Ball – shimming
The Torque Ball must be shimmed correctly during assembly. Improper shimming, especially if done too hard or too tight, can cause problems over time.

Warning – shimming too hard
If the Torque Ball is shimmed too hard, it can cause the vulcanized rubber in the bowl to be loaded incorrectly. Over time, this can cause the rubber to come loose from the backing, crack or deform, which can cause oil leakage into the rear of the transmission.

Shims – availability
Shims for Torque Ball may be included in some kits, but are also available to purchase individually if needed. Correct shimming is crucial for long life and tight function.
